Councillor Alexa Loo
Alexa Loo was elected to Richmond City Council for the first time in 2014 and is currently serving her second term as city Councillor.
As a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), Alexa brings a strong background in finance, governance, and policy and process to the Richmond Council table as well as to Metro Vancouver where she serves on the Liquid Waste Committee.
Alexa is a two-time Olympian. She competed for Canada in the 2006 and 2010 Olympics in the Parallel Giant Slalom Snowboarding event. Alexa was raised in Richmond and competed locally in a number of sports, before becoming an internationally competitive snowboarder.
Alexa is a member of the Community Safety, Public Works and Transportation, Finance and General Purposes committees of Council. She is Council Liaison to the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Steveston Community Society, Economic Advisory Committee, Council/School Board Liaison Committee, Richmond Centre of Disability, Richmond Olympic Oval Corporation.
The mother of two young boys, Alexa is committed to protecting the environment, ensuring public safety and fostering business and economic activities so that all families can live and thrive here in Richmond.
As a Councillor, she is committed to working to foster community values and neighbourly interactions, manage City Centre growth and address Richmond’s growing transportation crunch. She is also committed to streamlining processes for businesses at City Hall.
In her personal and business life, Alexa’s motto is to: Aim High, Work Hard and Give Back. Alexa is the Recognition Chair for KidSport Richmond.
In the past, Alexa served as the athlete representative to the International Ski Federation (FIS), the Canadian Olympic Committee and for many years served on the board of directors of AthletesCAN.
