20 September 2022
A total of 45 candidates will be running for office in the 2022 Richmond Election: 3 for Mayor, 27 for Councillor, and 15 for School Trustee. On Saturday, October 15, Richmond voters will elect one Mayor, eight Councillors, and seven School Trustees.
Each candidate was given the option to submit a candidate profile, which includes a photo, a 150-word statement and their contact information. Candidate Profiles are available at richmond.ca/elections, in the 2022 Richmond Election app (which will available soon on Android and Apple devices), and in the printed Voter’s Guide that will be sent to all Richmond households starting in the last week of September. The Voter’s Guide will include voting information in addition to the profiles, and will be available at Richmond City Hall, community centres and libraries. In addition to a version in English, the Voter’s Guide will be available online in four languages including French, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Punjabi.
Voters have the opportunity to address candidates at All-Candidates Meetings, organized by community organizations. A list of these meetings are available at richmond.ca/elections or in the Richmond Election app. Community organizations interested in holding an All-Candidates Meeting may contact the candidates directly, and can ask the Richmond Elections Office to list their meeting online by calling 604-276-4100 or emailing elections@richmond.ca with the meeting’s date, time, location, candidate participants, and organizer’s information.
