The Richmond Arts Awards recognize the artistic achievements and contributions to the cultural community by city residents, artists, educators, organizations and business leaders. Created in partnership with the Richmond Arts Coalition, its purpose is to:

  • Honour major contributions by individuals, organizations and business to the arts
  • Cultivate greater visibility and understanding of the value of the arts
  • Encourage excellence and build new leadership within the arts community
  • Develop patrons for the arts

All artistic disciplines are eligible: culinary, literary, performing and visual arts, as well as craft, environmental arts, new media and social practice.

The public was invited to the 16th annual Richmond Arts Awards ceremony:

Wed, May 8, 7:00pm
Richmond City Hall, Council Chambers

Hosted by Mayor Malcolm Brodie, the ceremony featured a keynote speech from Sirish Rao as well as performances by opera singer Cristina Zhang and musicians Conor Stuart and Risa Tonita.

The Richmond Arts Coalition awarded a $300 cash prize to the winner of the Youth Arts category, which recognized a performing, literary, media or visual artist 24 years of age or younger, whose artistic practice demonstrates outstanding promise and commitment to the Richmond arts community.

The Richmond Arts Awards are presented through a partnership between the City of Richmond and Richmond Arts Coalition, and are sponsored by the Richmond News.

Nominations for the 16th annual Richmond Arts Awards are now closed. Check back next year for more information about the program.
