Richmond Sports Council
The Richmond Sports Council represents local sports groups and coordinates their involvement in community issues. Established in 1982, we work with all registered sports groups within the Park, Recreation & Culture Division.
Richmond Sports Council Meetings are currently held on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm (except for August). Visit the Richmond Sports Council website for more information.
Active Recreation & Sport Fund
This fund helps Richmond residents aged 18 and under participate in organized recreational and sports activities when financial barriers exist. The fund supports activities with an instructor or coach, including camps and regular programs, but does not cover private lessons or City of Richmond programs.
Eligibility
- Residents of Richmond aged 18 or under.
- Programs must be organized with scheduled sessions and include at least one session per week.

Richmond Sports Awards
Our annual awards, co-hosted with Richmond News and the City of Richmond, honour outstanding athletes and contributors in various categories. This includes athletes from high school to masters levels, athletes with a disability, Special Olympics athletes, as well as coaches, administrators, and officials who support sports in Richmond.
How to Apply
Nominations for awards are accepted annually. Check the Richmond Sports Council website for deadlines and application details.
Summer Games Sports Legacy Trust Fund
Founded from the 1979 BC Summer Games, this fund provides grants to Richmond athletes competing at the Provincial level or higher. Donations are tax-deductible and support local athletes.
Eligibility
- Richmond residents competing at the Provincial level or higher.
- Priority is given to youth (11-19 years) and then younger children and seniors.
Grant Amount
Individual grants up to $500 or 50% of eligible costs, whichever is less.
Group or team grants up to $1,000 or 50% of eligible costs, whichever is less.
