Street Sweeping
The City of Richmond Roads Department conducts an annual street sweeping program that contributes to Richmond's overall cleanliness.
One of the challenges is vehicles parked on roadways where street sweeping is to occur. Temporary no parking signs are erected in areas to be cleaned two days before crews carry out the work. Drivers are reminded to obey these no parking signs as vehicles illegally parked are subject to ticketing, which carries a $60 fine and/or towing.
Typically, street sweeping is conducted on arterial roads 2-3 times per year, depending on the location. Some residential areas are not scheduled to have streets swept on a regular basis as the Roads Department assesses these roads on an as-needed basis.
The following locations are problematic with parking during regular street sweeping, and drivers are reminded not to park in these areas when sweeping is scheduled:
- Abercrombie Drive
- Ackroyd Road (Cooney to Arcadia)
- Bennett Road (No. 3 Road to Garden City)
- General Currie (No. 3 Rd to Garden City)
- Jones Road (No. 3 Road to Garden City)
- Minoru Boulevard (Blundell to Granville)
- Moffatt Road (Blundell to Granville)
