Economic Development

The role of the Economic Development Office is to encourage and facilitate economic expansion within the City of Richmond. At the same time, its goal is to provide employment opportunities for Richmond residents by facilitating development of a strong economy and business community.

Economic Development acts as a catalyst to bring together people, ideas and capital, ultimately leading to economic development and diversification. It also assists companies considering expansion or relocation in Richmond, by providing a range of services, including information on available land or premises, government programs, and facts and figures that may be useful in arriving at the right location decision.

In addition, Economic Development implements programs which support the growth of local business enterprise and which attract complementary business to the community. To accomplish these goals, the Economic Development Office works closely with the Federal and Provincial Government agencies, Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Richmond, other locally based business organizations and businesses.
