Fitness Centre
The 3,436.56 square foot fitness centre features state of the art machinery, including 8 Cybex treadmills, 2 Arc trainers, 6 Precor elipticals, 6 bikes, 2 rowers and a Active Passive Trainer. Free weights, individual strength machines, a Matrix Functional Trainer, Sci-Fit machine, squat rack, bench press and stretching area round out this fully serviced facility.

BCRPA registered staff can provide fitness and wellness advice for the beginner to advance participant. Fitness assessments and personalized programs can be booked through the Fitness Coordinator.

Public Holiday Hours

There’s no excuse to miss your workout!
All community centres are open regular weekend hours plus select community centres are now open on public holidays! This is a great chance to come in for a workout with friends and family. 

Use your Total Fitness Pass at any centre on public holidays for no extra fee.

Fitness Fees
Thompson Community Centre offers a number of options for accessing fitness programs, including paying a drop-in fee or purchasing a visit card or fitness centre pass, as well as offering programs for registration. See the Fitness Fees section for more information.

Orientations and other Services
Fitness Centre Orientation 
Book an introduction to the Fitness Centre with a BCRPA registered Weight Trainer and learn proper techniques for equipment use and Fitness Centre etiquette. Call 604-238-8434 to book an appointment.

Youth Orientation
Youth aged 13-17 years of age must complete a youth orientation, demonstrate appropriate maturity level and have a PDF Document parental consent form signed prior to Fitness Centre access. Youth orientations can be booked by calling the centre of your choice, and need only be completed once for eligibility to exercise at all centres. 

Group and Personal Training
All Thompson personal trainers have met or have exceeded the standards set out by the BCRPA, the provincial registration and governing association for fitness leaders in BC. This team of highly qualified personnel can help achieve a wide variety of health, fitness and training goals. Call today!

Screening Forms
PAR Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire)
When you take part in any fitness activity at a City facility you will be asked to either complete a PAR Q questionnaire (below) or read the large poster version of the form at your facility. This form is designed to identify people for whom a change in physical activity may pose a risk. If you answer YES to any PAR Q questions, you are advised to see your doctor prior to taking part in a new fitness activity.

Parental Consent
Youth aged 13-17 years of age must complete a youth orientation, demonstrate appropriate maturity level and have a parental consent form signed prior to Fitness Centre access.

Adapted Fitness
This program is for those with a disability that would not otherwise be able to workout on their own. With the assistance of a fully certified Personal Trainer, people with a physical disability can come to the weight room and use a variety of equipment that can accommodate different abilities.

Sports
Tennis
Thompson has four outdoor tennis courts available for public use. The lights are on until 10:00 p.m. every evening.
