Boulevard Maintenance

Property owners in Richmond are required to upkeep the boulevard fronting their property and to ensure no shrubs and trees encroach or block any sidewalk, roadway or traffic control devices.  By doing so, they ensure safe pedestrian and vehicle access on sidewalks and roadways.

Upkeeping the boulevard includes:

  • cutting the grass
  • trimming hedges, trees and shrubs
  • keeping the boulevard free of brush and noxious weeds

Property owners must not place any hard surfaces (i.e. asphalt) on the boulevard, except for the driveway allowance to the property. To check permitted driveway allowances see the Residential Lot (Vehicular Access) Regulation Bylaw No. 7222 or call 604-276-4189.

To report sidewalk and roadway encroachment problems or overgrown vegetation, please complete the online Customer Feedback form.
