Project Description
The design and construction of a sanitary pump station, gravity sewers and forcemain to service the proposed Translink Development and areas in the immediate vicinity in the Hamilton Area of East Richmond.

No. 3 Road Watermain Upgrade

Project Description
In 2008, the City of Richmond repaired two breaks in a 750mm diameter steel watermain along No. 3 Road, between Granville Avenue and Saba Road.  The watermain was subsequently replaced.  In addition to this replacement, a second watermainon No. 3 Road, has been identified for upsizing.  Therefore, the City plans to upgrade the watermain along No. 3 Road in 2010.  A portion of watermain replacement will be completed through trenchless methods (sliplining) reducing greenhouse gases as compared to traditional construction methodologies.  This scope of work includes replacement of the existing watermain, renewal of water service connections, and the replacement of existing fire hydrants.

Seahurst Lane Drainage Upgrades

Project Description
The existing laneway located south of Seahurst Road has a history of flooding during significant storm events.  The objective of this project is to reduce the potential of flooding by constructing a new storm water collection system, followed by repaving of the laneway.

No. 4 Road Drainage Pump Station Replacement

Project Description
The existing No. 4 Road drainage pump station is under capacity to support proposed development and is nearing the end of its service life.  Completion of this project will replace the existing structure while providing increased capacity requirements related to the future development in the area.  The new pump station will increase the capacity from 3.3 cubic meters per second to 7.0 cubic meters per second.  This project also includes park features such as plazas, a washroom and other related amenities.

Cambie Road Drainage Pump Station Renovation and Plaza (Completed)

Project Description
The existing West Cambie drainage pump station was under capacity to support proposed development and was nearing the end of its service life.  Completion of this project replaced the existing structure while providing increased capacity requirements related to future development.  The new pump station now increases the capacity from approximately 2.2 cubic meters per second to approximately 4.2 cubic meters per second.

City Centre Area - Eckersley Sanitary System Upgrades

Project Description
In 2007, the City of Richmond conducted a planning level engineering study of the City Centre and Bennett West sanitary systems.  Upgrades were recommended to resolve existing capacity issues, and accommodate future development and the subsequent increase in sanitary flow.  These upgrades include the replacement and upsizing of an existing sanitary pump station, and the upsizing of sanitary forcemains and gravity sewers in various locations.

Garden City Drainage Upgrades

Project Description
Drainage upgrades along Cambie Road and Garden City Road are required to accommodate future development in the West Cambie Area.  This project includes the design and construction of recommended upgrades.  These upgrades include the installation of new drainage sewers to increase the service capacity of the existing system, followed by restoration of the road structure, and affected driveways and boulevards.

Project Description
In order to alleviate flooding and improve the irrigation for the farming community in East Richmond, upgrading of the drainage infrastructure that services the lcoal area is required.  These upgrades include constructing new open channels, improving the conveyance of existing open channels, and constructing flow control structures in various locations.

No. 3 Road South Pump Station Screen Upgrade Project

Project Description
To upsize the intake opening and screens at the No. 3 Road Pump Station.  With a larger sized intake, the frequency of flow impediment by debris accumulation at the screens would be less, thus optimising the performance of the drainage pump station.  This upgrade includes the demolition and removal of the existing structure, construction of a larger concrete intake opening and fabrication and installation of new intake screens.

Van Horne Way Sanitary Sewer Upgrades

Project Description
City staff have identified the need to replace the ageing sanitary sewer along Van Horne Way and upgrade to a larger capacity in order to accommodate existing and future development in the area.  This is part of the City's infrastructure replacement program.  There will be a review of options to complete the installation of the new sanitary pipe using trenchless technology, reducing green house gases as compared to traditional construction methodologies.

Williams Road Lane (North) Drainage Upgrades

Project Description
As part of Richmond's objective to enhance the overall neighbourhood liveability, staff have identified the need to upgrade the existing lane north of Williams Road, between No. 4 Road and Shell Road.  This upgrade would include a full laneway restoration and re-grade of surface to properly meet existing driveways and road elevations, installation of a storm collection system, and all  necessary tie-ins to adjacent properties.  The upgrade would enhance access, comfort and conveneience for residents along Williams Road who use this lane as the only means to access their garages.
