Public Art

Public Art Plans

Public Art Plans have been created through consultation with planners, art and design experts, and members of the community. Their purpose is to assist City staff, private developers and communities to identify potential collaborations to larger projects within an area of Richmond or projects that span property and neighbourhood boundaries.

​The Capstan Village Public Art plan was officially endorsed by Council on March 12, 2018. The Capstan Village Public Art Plan supplements Richmond's City Centre Public Art Plan and should be read as a companion document. Both art plans identify arts, culture and heritage as core values, integral to quality of life, health and wellbeing, social cohesion and economic development.

Minoru Civic Precinct Public Art Plan Minoru Plan cover
The Minoru Civic Precinct Public Art Plan was officially endorsed by Council on October 14, 2014. The public art opportunities identified in the public art plan aim to provide opportunities to experience artistic expression in the most public locations and to reflect and enhance the unique services and programs offered in the facilities, including Minoru Complex and the larger Civic Precinct.

Public Art Plan
The Alexandra Neighbourhood Public Art Plan builds on the history and ecology of the Alexandra Neighbourhood of West Cambie to provide a thematic framework for the creation of public art to enrich this emerging community. Opportunities are identified for public art to play a role in achieving a connected community. Adopted by Council November 12, 2013.

City Centre Public Art Plan City Centre Plan Cover
This document was several years in the making and is an important part of the re-energizing of the City’s core. Adopted October 11, 2011.

Richmond Olympic Oval Public Art Plan
The Richmond Oval Precinct and Surrounding Area Public Art Plan has produced an exciting series of integrated artworks, sculpture and functional artist-designed public features within the Oval and on the surrounding grounds. Adopted April 2006.
