29 August 2016
Treat your taste buds to delicious culinary feats at the Richmond World Festival presented by Coast Capital Savings. This day-long celebration of Richmond’s cultural diversity through music, food and sport will feature over 40 food trucks and top chefs. Taking place on Saturday, September 3, there is something for everyone and admission is free.
“Coast Capital Savings’ community promise is to help build a richer future for youth in our community,” said Wendy Lachance, director of community leadership for Coast Capital Savings. “One of the focuses of our Youth Get It Community Investment Program is to support events and programs that bring community together and that promote inclusiveness and belonging. The Richmond World Festival is a great example of an event that does all of that.”
Catch the Greater Vancouver region’s top chefs on the festival’s Culinary Stage as they cook signature dishes in an intimate and interactive setting. This year’s Culinary Stage includes talent from siblings Skylar and Chloë, a kid culinary team; Chef Hamid Salimian, captain of Culinary Team Canada; Chef Tammy Wood, a Masterchef Canada home cook with a specialty in wild game; and many more. The focus this year is on locally sourced food with a fusion theme. Did we just hear your stomach rumble?
Once the Culinary Stage team gets your mouth watering, head on over to the FEASTival of Flavours and get your snack on. The FEASTival is an international food truck festival featuring more than 40 of the lower mainland’s best food trucks. Choosing between tacos, dumplings, curries, barbecue meat, perogies, noodles and poutine may prove to be your biggest challenge of the day. Dive into some delicious poutine, enjoy the flavours of a kebab and wash down your meal with fresh lemonade … but save room for sugar coated waffles as dessert.
The Richmond World Festival features over 60 music and dance performances on nine stages, including a free performance by Walk Off The Earth, the Global Village with interactive cultural activities and performances, the Your Kontinent Digital Carnival, Artisan Marketplace, Wide World of Sports and more.
The Richmond World Festival is produced by the City of Richmond and presented by Coast Capital Savings.
