Filming in your Neighbourhood
Richmond is a popular location for film and television production. We appreciate your patience and understanding when crews are filming in your area.
All production companies filming in British Columbia are required to notify residents of their intentions to film. The Location Manager-who serves as the production's main liaison with the community-is responsible for this communication. The notification letter you receive should include the name and contact number of the Location Manager or Assistant location Manger. If you have questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to them.
If your issue remains unresolved, please feel free to contact the Film Office for further support.

Economic Benefits of Filming
The film industry is a major economic driver in British Columbia, employing thousands of residents - including many right here in Richmond. Film productions bring significant spending to the local economy, benefiting businesses such as hospitality, transportation, and retail while also creating job opportunities for Richmond residents in both film-related and supporting sectors.
B.C.'s motion picture workforce is recognized globally for its excellence, with below-the-line workers earning 34% more than the provincial median wage and benefiting from strong union support. The industry offers solid careers with steady demand, with 90% of workers belonging to unions that provide benefits. Richmond, along with other regional hubs, plays a key role in this growth, contributing to the province's reputation as a top-tier production destination.
Every dollar spent on production continues to circulate within the community, amplifying its economic impact.
