Advancing Richmond's Climate Leadership

Leaders in Sustainability

The City of Richmond has a long-standing commitment to deliver on its vision of a sustainable community that integrates environmental, social and economic dimensions with community well-being. As a community made up of islands located in the Fraser River’s estuary, the City of Richmond was one of the first municipalities to establish itself as a national climate action leader.

For decades, the City has implemented climate action work including mitigation and adaptation plans, actions and strategies, which are outlined in the following web pages of this section. The City’s actions have had significant impact and have been widely recognized.

Implementing plans, actions and strategies, along with seizing new opportunities will improve Richmond’s resiliency to the effects of climate change and support the City’s equity, affordability and sustainability goals.
