Food for Thought this Thanksgiving

Did you know fats come in all shapes and forms? From your cranberry sauce to your gravy, make sure you don’t dispose of these fats down the drain. These materials can block sewer pipes, which can be costly to replace or repair. Place small amounts of fats and grease into your Green Cart or bottle large amounts of cooking oil/grease and bring it to the Richmond Recycling Depot.

What to do with all the wrappers?

Candy wrappers and chip bags creeping into your garbage this Halloween? Be eek-o-friendly by collecting and bringing your candy wrappers, chip bags and other crinkly wrappers to the Richmond Recycling Depot. Not sure what goes where? Check out the Recycling Search or the Richmond Recycling app.

Pumpkin Recycling

Give your Jack-o-lantern a new life! Remember to place your Halloween pumpkins in your Green Cart or backyard compost bin where they can start a new life as nutrient rich compost! Residents can purchase a backyard compost bin from the Richmond Recycling Depot at 5555 Lynas Lane. Open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. (closed on statutory holidays).
