Construction is underway for the new West Richmond Pavilion at Hugh Boyd Community Park. Q. What is the West Richmond Pavilion?
A. It's a new 10,830-square-foot facility with an additional 1,000-square-foot outdoor viewing deck in Hugh Boyd Community Park. Features include multipurpose rooms, a kitchen, concession window, change rooms, washrooms, storage space and a referee room.
Q. What will the new building look like?
A. To view renderings of the new facility, visit richmond.ca/MajorProjects.
Q. When is construction expected to begin?
A. July 2026.
Q. How long is construction expected to last?
A. Estimated completion is Q1 2028.
Q. Which areas of Hugh Boyd Community Park will be affected when construction begins?
A. Select areas of the park will be affected. Refer to the map below for detailed information.
Q. Will the sport fields and adjacent amenities remain open during construction?
A. While construction may have a minor impact on some fields, they will remain open for use.
Q. What, if any, impact will construction have on programs at the community centre?
A. Construction is expected to reduce the amount of public parking; however, it is not expected to directly affect the programs and services offered at the community centre.
Q. Will there be changes to walkways and access points?
A. Some walkways and access points will be affected by construction. Refer to the map below for detailed information.
Q. Will access to parking change during construction?
A. The construction zone will affect some public parking, but parking will still be available in nearby lots. Refer to the map below for locations.
Q. Will there be any noise or dust impacts during peak field use times?
A. There will be some noise and dust associated with construction activities. Construction may take place between 7:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, in accordance with the City of Richmond’s Noise Regulation Bylaw.
Q. What, if any, impact will this facility have on the trees in the park?
A. A total of 10 trees were removed as part of this project, and 30 replacement trees will be planted once the project is complete.
Q. Which construction company was selected to carry out the construction of the West Richmond Pavilion?
A. PCL was selected through a competitive bid process.
