Richmond Sports Council


The Richmond Sports Council represents local sports groups and coordinates their involvement in community issues. Established in 1982, this group works with all registered sports groups within the Park, Recreation and Culture Division.

Richmond Sports Council meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm (except for August). Visit the Richmond Sports Council website for more information.

Active Recreation & Sport Fund

This fund helps Richmond residents 18 years and younger to participate in organized recreational and sports activities when financial barriers exist. The fund supports activities with an instructor or coach, including camps and regular programs, but does not cover private lessons or City of Richmond programs.

Eligibility

  • Residents of Richmond (18 years and younger).
  • Programs must be organized with scheduled sessions and include at least one session per week.

Summer Games Sports Legacy Trust Fund

Founded from the 1979 BC Summer Games, this fund provides grants to Richmond athletes competing at the provincial level or higher.

Eligibility

  • Richmond residents competing at the provincial level or higher.
  • Priority is given to youth (11-19 years) and then younger children and seniors.

Grant Amount

  • Individual grants up to $600 or 50 per cent of eligible costs, whichever is less.
  • Group or team grants up to $1,000 or 50 per cent of eligible costs, whichever is less.
