Attractions - Steveston Harbour

Steveston Historic Fishing Village Take a glimpse at the rich history of the west coast fishing industry as you stroll through the village shops and explore the many historic sites in the area. Visit two official national historic sites - the Britannia Heritage Shipyard Park, site of the award winning Murakami House and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. Stop in to see the quaint Steveston Museum and be sure to see Historic Tram #1220. Of course a trip to Steveston is not complete without fish and chips on the wharf and a walk through Garry Point Park.

One of the oldest and most popular annual events in BC is the Steveston Salmon Festival held each year on Canada Day.

Steveston is a popular filming location for movies and television, and is perhaps best known as the village of "Storybrooke" in the popular television series "Once Upon a Time". But is has also had starring roles in movies like Godzilla and War of the Planet of the Apes, as well as TV series such as Supernatural, Arrow and The Stand.

Other nearby attractions include London Farm, Finn Slough, the Buddhist Temple and the many fruit and vegetable stands along Steveston Highway.

Richmond Library and Cultural Centre

Cultural Attractions Richmond's Library Cultural Centre is home to an Art Gallery featuring contemporary art by local and international artists, an Arts Centre with nine art studios, a museum depicting Richmond's historical roots, and an award-winning library with collections in English and Chinese. It also has an excellent interactive computer centre.

The Richmond Gateway Theatre is a delightful venue for professional theatre, special features and concerts. The 560-seat theatre provides comfortable seating, great sight lines and superb acoustics.

Richmond offers something for every palate with a large variety of world-famous international cuisine that reflects the city's diverse ethnic mix and cultural heritage as well as a wide selection of traditional family restaurants. The New York Times even named Richmond as home of the Best Asian Food in North America!

An International Shopping Experience

The latest fashions and an assortment of uniquely Canadian products and goods imported globally can all be found in the Richmond shopping districts. There are at least nine shopping centres along No. 3 Road - including three major malls - and the Golden Village, a district made up of contemporary Asian shopping centres catering to local residents and international visitors. The Public Market on Westminster Highway offers a feast for the senses with close to 75 shops set in a lively atmosphere filled with fresh produce, baked goods, flowers and gifts.

Richmond also has a concentration of shopping areas catering to homeowners looking for furniture, appliances and home accessories. Many of these can be found on Bridgeport Road and No. 3 Road.

Richmond has over 145 parks, 73 km of scenic trails and almost 60 km of on-road cycling routes. The three jewels in the city's park system are Minoru Park, Garry Point Park and the Richmond Nature Park. Some of Richmond's most interesting Heritage Sites can be found along the trail system.

Recreation Facilities

Visitors to Richmond can enjoy a variety of recreation activities including golf courses, a pitch and putt, fitness centres, pools and arenas. Experience the amazing Minoru Centre for Active Living Aquatic Centre, a state-of-the-art family facility boasting two lap pools, a lazy river, over-water climbing wall and Canada's two largest hot tubs.

Another major attraction is Watermania, located in the Riverport Entertainment Complex alongside the Richmond Ice Centre and a variety of other commercially-owned family-friendly attractions.
