Richmond Maritime Festival
Aug 26-27, 2023 | 11:00am - 6:00pm
The Richmond Maritime Festival returns for its 20th annual edition! Come celebrate the city’s diverse heritage at the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site on Saturday and Sunday, August 26 and 27 from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
The entire 8-acre historic site will be open to the public for visitors to discover delightful surprises around every corner. This FREE event is open to everyone and is for all ages.
The stunning, natural and nautical splendour of the oldest shipyard in British Columbia will come to life with maritime-themed activities. Come and enjoy live music, food trucks, artists and a display of beautifully restored wooden boats and ships.
Located along the Steveston Channel on the south arm of the Fraser River, originally a cannery and then converted to a shipyard, Britannia represents an important era in the historical development of Richmond. Twelve heritage buildings on the site help to tell the many stories of the multi-ethnic residents and fisheries workers at Britannia Shipyards: Chinese, European, First Nations and Japanese-Canadians. Visitors can also tour many of the historic buildings, several of which have been restored to reflect their original roles in the West Coast fishing industry.
