Richmond Maritime Festival (Aug 23-24)

Hero Banner - Richmond Maritime Festival

The 22nd annual Richmond Maritime Festival takes place Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24 from 11:00am to 6:00pm, at Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site. This free, family-friendly event celebrates the history of Steveston with maritime-themed programming that spans live music, art installations, and more.

Children can learn to build their own boat, make origami, and encounter sea-inspired puppets like Lulu the Mermaid and Rikki the Rat. Boat enthusiasts can get up close to the SS Master tugboat, MV Gikumi, and more beautifully restored wooden boats.

Musicians like Murfitt & Main, Collage Trad, the Irish Wakers, and more will keep spirits high across the historic site, which will also feature more than 15 different multicultural food trucks.

Located along the Steveston Channel on the south arm of the Fraser River, Britannia Shipyards represents an important era in the historical development of Richmond. History buffs won't want to miss exploring the heritage buildings that tell the many stories of past multicultural residents and fisheries workers of Chinese, European, Indigenous, and Japanese descent.
