Community Energy & Emissions Plan 2050

Richmond’s Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP) 2050 includes multiple actions within eight strategic directions that together will set Richmond on a path to achieve 50% reduction in community GHG emissions by 2030, and reach net zero emissions by 2050. The plan was adopted by City Council on Feb 14, 2022.

As a community made up of islands located in the Fraser River’s estuary, the City of Richmond was one of the first municipalities to establish itself as a national climate action leader.

Climate Action Leadership

The City is a leader in climate change actions. For over a decade, we have been actively implementing climate change mitigation and adaption measures (such as dikes) which will protect Richmond from current projections of climate change impacts out to 2100.
