Mayor Rob Howard

Born and raised in Richmond, Mayor Rob Howard was elected in October 2026. He brings decades of public service to the role, having served as a Richmond City Councillor from 2001 to 2008 and as the MLA for Richmond Centre from 2009 to 2013.

Alongside his public service, Mayor Howard built a career as an entrepreneur, spending 19 years in the finance sector and 25 years developing and managing seniors’ homes. That experience gives him a practical understanding of the local economy, housing, and responsible financial management.

Mayor Howard has long been active in Richmond’s community life. He spent 12 years with the Richmond Minor Hockey Association as a volunteer, tournament chair, and coach. He is a Past President of Tourism Richmond, has served on the Board of the Richmond Caring Place Society, and has held leadership roles with the Richmond Christmas Fund.

Mayor Howard is focused on building a safe, vibrant, and prosperous Richmond, with priorities including housing, careful stewardship of public money, economic opportunity, and the preservation of Richmond’s unique character.
