Richmond is dedicated to promoting the value of our municipal tap water, maximizing opportunities for use of tap water in municipal facilities and developing strategies for making tap water the “water of choice”.
About Richmond’s Water Services
Water services are the responsibility of the Engineering and Publics Works - Water Section. The City of Richmond is committed to:
- Providing clean and high quality tap water to Richmond residents
- Maintaining and improving services that are essential to the water distribution network
- Attending to the public’s needs
- Encouraging community involvement by establishing water conservation incentives, programs and events
- Ensuring water is available at 4,641 fire hydrants in the event of a fire
- Producing over 55,000 litres of potable water per day from non-potable sources such as Fraser River by the Mobile Emergency Response Unit, in the event of an emergency
