What is the Adventure Lab app?
Adventure Lab is a new app and platform developed by the team at Geocaching HQ that allows you to create, play and share unique outdoor scavenger hunts, experiences, and games. There are currently over 50,000 public Adventures available worldwide. The Adventure Lab app guides players through the process of finding clues, solving puzzles, and completing Adventures one location at a time.
What’s the difference between Adventure Lab and geocaching?
Unlike traditional geocaching, Adventures do not require a physical container and can be located indoors. The Adventure Lab app expands the boundaries of traditional geocaching into new spaces and experiences while introducing innovative and fresh ideas that make exploring even more fun!
Richmond Adventure Labs
There are currently three Adventures (with more to come) scattered throughout the City of Richmond. Each Adventure offers a unique storyline and set of challenges in which players can embark on thrilling quests, answer trivia questions and learn about wildlife, ecology and local history.
Terra Nova Rural Park Adventure
Explore the Terra Nova Rural Park and Terra Nova Natural Area's rich history, diverse ecology, agricultural activity, and recreational opportunities. This 98 acre site offers immersive natural experiences, walks through farms and gardens, and breathtaking views of the Salish Sea. The park counts large numbers of migratory birds among its fauna. The network of trails, award-winning adventure playground, and heritage buildings make it a very special place. This Adventure incorporates short videos.

Richmond Nature Park Adventure
Keep your eyes peeled on this unique “Mini Adventure”! This adventure takes place within and around the Richmond Nature House. A perfect activity for a rainy day, or for those who just enjoy the small things in life. This quick and quirky adventure provides a chance to learn about wildlife that inhabits the Richmond Nature Park.
Note: The Nature House is open daily from 9:00am-5:00pm. Closed: Sep 30, Nov 11 and Dec 25.

Garden City and Paulik Park Adventure
In this Adventure, you will meet Riley the Raccoon, an adventurous spirit whose curiosity about the natural world has caused her to get lost in Garden City Park. Help Riley solve clues that will lead her back to her home in the heart of one of Richmond’s best “hidden gems” called Paulik Park! This is a sequential Adventure because it uses a storyline. Each park has 4 different location questions. Players can walk, bike, or drive a neighborhood street to get from Garden City Park to Paulik Park (Ash Street is best). There are no washrooms at Paulik Park.
This Adventure incorporates two short videos and several infographics that share naturalist facts about wildlife and park history. Remember to stay on the trails and respect these beautiful parks!
