Engage with Artists

These annual programs involve professional artists that engage directly with community members to explore ideas, identities and creative expression. All are free, but some activities may require pre-registration.

Branscombe House Artist-in-Residence (year-round)

Hands-on programming in residential Steveston

Annually, a new artist lives in this restored Edwardian-style home, providing free public programs in exchange for the opportunity. In 2023, Branscombe House is partnering with The Blue Cabin to provide artist-led experiences at Branscombe House in association with activities at the floating residency located at Imperial Landing.

Engaging Artists in the Community (year-round)

Community-oriented and collaborative art experiences

Led by Richmond Public Art, the Engaging Artists in Community program connects artists with local service organizations. Community-based art-making may involve creative activities that promote cross-cultural exchange, inclusive communities and/or education on any number of topics of interest to the partnering organization.

Lulu Series (Spring)

Guest Speaker series about Art in the City

Regional, national and international speakers including acclaimed artists, architects, urban planners and other cultural leaders discuss the importance of art and design in establishing connections between citizens and their communities. Lectures with Q&A are preceded by a short performance or presentation by a local artist.

Writer-in-Residence (Fall)

Workshops and more for local emerging and aspiring writers

This annual residency runs from September through November and is a partnership between Richmond Arts Centre, Minoru Seniors Society and Richmond Public Library.
