Rapid Response to Homelessness

Rapid Response to Homelessness

In an ongoing effort to address local affordable housing needs, the City of Richmond has partnered with BC Housing to provide rental housing and services for Richmond’s most vulnerable residents. BC Housing (through its Rapid Response to Homelessness Program) and the City of Richmond (through its Affordable Housing and Homelessness Strategies) have collaborated to build rental supportive housing units in Richmond for people who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness.

Supportive housing provides residents with a place to live and services to help them move towards independence and improved quality of life. This type of housing fills a housing gap in Richmond for individuals seeking to exit the shelter system or the streets. Supports include breakfast and a hot meal each day, life-skills training and access to health care services.

Aster Place Supportive Housing

The City of Richmond, BC Housing, and a non-profit operator, Community Builders, worked together to create supportive housing for up to 40 people experiencing homelessness at 2520 Smith Street. Aster Place - Richmond Supportive Housing provides 24/7 staffing and wrap around supports for residents.

Alderbridge Supportive Housing

Alderbridge Supportive Housing at 6999 Alderbridge Way opened in May 2019 and is managed by RainCity Housing, an experienced and professional supportive housing operator. The three-storey building, with 40 safe and secure rental homes, provides supportive services including breakfast and a hot meal each day, life-skills training, and access to primary health and mental health services.
