Artist Statement
"Lulu, a Memory Garden" is a story. It is a story about the park’s past and about people’s experiences of gardens. The park has been renamed Paulik Gardens Neighbourhood Park to recognize the Paulik Family, the former owners of the large ornamental gardens and woodlot. Ed Paulik, who grew up on this land, took care of the park for many years. Stewardship of the park now resides with the Richmond Garden Club. Also encompassing the former Lulu Island Water Gardens of the Ohler Family, this park has a lineage similar to the history of Richmond and contributes to the revitalization of the surrounding neighbourhood.
