Description of Work

The work consists of three metal circles, powder coated in red, the smallest being 8’ in diameter, the second 10’ in diameter, and the third 12’ in. diameter. The edge of each circle is polished stainless steel. Each circle is cut out differently and they appear to be rolling.

Artist Statement

The circles represent a living growing environment, constantly reconfigerating itself to adjust to new immigrants, new social and financial needs of its inhabitants. The rolling aspect of the circles points to these always changing conditions of a growing community. We were also interested in making it playful so that it might engage children responding to the colour and the shapes.

Wall and Khouri strive to engage the public through colour and form, at times being playful but always engaging and challenging. The artists strongly believe that public art should be intellectually accessible to all who encounter it and should lead to examination and questioning of the status quo.
