Artist Statement

This 80' ft. x 20' ft. mural by artists Dawn Lo and April dela Noche Milne was created working with culturally diverse and multigenerational members of the Thompson community. Through a series of participatory artist-led workshops, including zine-making and handmade artistic postcards, community members expressed what was important to them in making the Thompson Community Centre and neighbourhood their home and a place where they want be. The mural depicts the community centre's ever-bustling nature. A safe place for connection where individuals from a diversity of cultures and backgrounds can come together to form long-lasting friendships, while engaging in their favourite activities and programs.
