Energy & GHG Emissions Reporting

Aerial view of central Richmond

The City of Richmond, a long-time advocate for benchmarking large existing buildings, is considering a new requirement for reporting energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for these buildings.

Energy and GHG emissions reporting and benchmarking are crucial for assessing and enhancing the performance of Richmond's existing buildings. This process involves measuring and analyzing annual energy consumption both for individual buildings and across entire portfolios. The proposed reporting requirements would initially apply to retail, office, light industrial and industrial buildings larger than 100,000 square feet.

If you are an owner, manager or representative of this type of building, we would like to hear from you to help shape and inform development of the reporting process, and identify the support needed to ensure success.
