The Richmond Museum’s new exhibition, Family Treasures, explores the many ways our belongings reveal our unique histories and surprising shared connections. The star of the exhibition is the rare, black 1952 Volkswagen Beetle owned by the Cowell family, which was on display for decades at the family’s Volkswagen dealership in the Richmond Auto Mall. The exhibition opens to the public Saturday, September 21 at 10:00am in conjunction with Culture Days activities taking place that day at the Richmond Cultural Centre.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy a variety of hands-on experiences including a photo op with the Beetle, repairing a family heirloom jigsaw puzzle, playing I Spy! the Treasure, and taking a close look at different materials at the Conservation Station.
Family Treasures runs from September 21, 2024 to August 17, 2025 at the Richmond Museum located in the Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate. Operating hours are 9:00am to 9:00pm weekdays and 10:00am to 5:00pm weekends. Admission is by donation.
