Garbage and Recycling Collection

Due to expected snow accumulations and freezing rain, traffic advisories have been issued for Thursday – Saturday. As road travel is not recommended, there will be no Garbage and Recycling collection on Friday, December 23.

If your recycling was not able to be collected, please hold all materials until your next collection day for the week of December 27 – 30. Unlimited volumes of recycling will be collected at that time. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding given the recent severe weather events.

Residents are asked to please ensure snow build up on carts is removed and to clear a path to allow crews to wheel carts more safely to the collection truck.

Please note adverse weather events such as snow could further delay collection. Visit or download the Richmond Recycling app to check your collection day as well as any updates that may affect collection.

For emergencies such as broken water mains, sewer problems, downed trees on roads, traffic lights out or other problems of this nature, please call the City’s 24-hour Emergency Line at 604 270-8721.
