Artist Statement

My imagery largely references North American landscape while consciously distills aesthetic and philosophical inspirations from traditional Chinese landscape (Shan Shui) painting, which is often abstract, symbolic and serene. The work continuously explores a unique visual vocabulary that transforms the familiar into the unconventional. My depiction of a poetic yet stylized landscape reflects on personal history and memories, communal sentiments, and draws upon a broader cultural reference.
