Richmond’s By-Election taking place on May 29

The City of Richmond has confirmed Saturday, May 29 as the date for the 2021 By-Election to elect one (1) Councillor as a result of a vacancy in November 2020.
The new Councillor elected will serve along with the other members of Richmond City Council until the next scheduled General Local and School Election on October 15, 2022.

All eligible Richmond voters are encouraged to make their vote count at the upcoming By-Election. For in-person voting, eligible voters will be able to vote once at any of the ten voting places open on General Voting Day (May 29) or at advance voting opportunities which will be offered over four days (May 15, 19, 20, 22). Additionally, all eligible Richmond voters may choose to vote by mail instead of in-person. Further information on where, when and how to vote will be posted shortly on the City’s website.

The City of Richmond is committed to delivering a safe and physically distanced By-Election during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following public health, Elections BC and WorkSafeBC directives, the City’s COVID-19 Safety Plan for each voting place will ensure the By-Election is safe for voters, candidates, candidate representatives and election staff.
