Drop-in COVID-19 first-dose vaccine clinics opening this week for Richmond seniors 65+
Joint information bulletin with Vancouver Coastal Health
16 June 2021
As part of the B.C. COVID-19 Immunization Plan, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and the City of Richmond have partnered to host drop-in vaccine clinics for Richmond seniors 65 and older and their caregivers who have not received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The clinics will take place on Friday, June 18 and Friday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Seniors Centre at the Minoru Centre for Active Living, located at 7191 Granville Avenue in Richmond. Appointments will be on a first come, first served basis for Richmond seniors 65+ and their caregivers requiring their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The site is accessible and onsite help including translation services will be available, if needed.
Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place at all Vancouver Coastal Health COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Visitors are reminded to wear a short-sleeve shirt as the vaccine will be delivered to the upper arm. Everyone receiving a vaccine will be monitored for 15 minutes following their appointment.
Appointments for second doses, as well as for residents 18 and over (born in 2003 or earlier) are available through the provincial online platform or call centre after residents register for a COVID-19 vaccine at www.gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated.
For those with transportation or mobility challenges, VCH is working with community groups, housing societies and transportation providers (TransLink, HandyDART and BC Transit) to assist getting to and from a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Requests for transportation support must be made at least three days in advance of your vaccination appointment. To request transportation support, visit: http://www.vch.ca/vaccinationtransportation.
Vancouver Coastal Health is responsible for the delivery of $4.1 billion in community, hospital and long-term care to more than one million people in communities including Richmond, Vancouver, the North Shore, Sunshine Coast, Sea to Sky corridor, Powell River, Bella Bella and Bella Coola. VCH also provides specialized care and services for people throughout B.C., and is the province's hub of health-care education and research.
