City of Richmond flags lowered in memory of residential school victims
31 May 2021
The City of Richmond will lower flags on all its buildings to half-mast in memory of the children whose lives were lost at a former residential school in Kamloops.
“This is a tragedy of insurmountable proportions and one that impacts all Canadians,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “Now is a time of reflection and I urge everyone to remember the 215 children whose lives were taken at the former residential school as well as the survivors, their families and the many others who never returned home.”
The flags will remain at half-mast for the next week.
