Richmond celebrates National Seniors Day with positive aging campaign

29 September 2021

Celebrate National Seniors Day in Richmond on Friday, October 1 with free and low cost online and in-person programs. Choose from playing the ukulele with others, enjoying a Seniors Day Social or purchasing a special treat. All activities can be found at richmond.ca/seniors.

“The City of Richmond acknowledges the important roles that adults 55 years and older play in our families, communities and workplaces,” says Malcolm Brodie. “The City of Richmond, Community Associations and Societies continue to recognize and encourage positive aging by recognizing and celebrating seniors in our community on National Seniors Day and all year long.”

As part of National Seniors Day, the City of Richmond coordinates the Positive Aging Campaign, showcasing positive images of seniors in Richmond aiming to reduce ageism and existing stereotypes. This year’s theme of How Aging Positively Spreads highlights the impact and rippling effect one person can have creating positivity across a community. View the campaign from October 1 to 8 at www.richmond.ca/seniors, on the City’s social media platforms and in person at various City of Richmond community centres and facilities.
