Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset’s Winter Wonderland returns outdoors
06 December 2021
The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset proudly presents the 20th edition of Winter Wonderland at Richmond City Hall. After a hiatus last year—the first in its history—due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Winter Wonderland takes place outdoors on the North Plaza of City Hall where 34 live trees have been sponsored. The decorating was done by Rotary Interactors of Hugh Boyd Secondary School and Steveston-London Secondary School, and volunteers. After the event, the trees will be planted in various City parks.
Visitors enjoying the festive display are encouraged to take a photo among all the twinkling lights and bring along a non-perishable food item to drop-off in support of Richmond’s local food bank.
The sponsor funds raised from Winter Wonderland are reinvested into the local community. Some beneficiaries this year include the Richmond Hospital Foundation, Gateway Theatre, the Richmond Christmas Fund, Kwantlen Polytechnic University Endowment Fund for Scholarships, the Richmond Community Foundation Endowment Fund for Scholarships, Hugh Boyd Rotary Leadership Training and Steveston-London Rotary Leadership Training.
The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset is also committed to raising money to help establish an endowment fund that focuses on maternal and child health.
Winter Wonderland will be on display in the Richmond City Hall Plaza (6911 No. 3 Road) from now until Tuesday, January 4. In addition to the tree sponsors, the event sponsor is ASPAC Developments, the Gold Sponsor is Concord Pacific and the Silver Sponsors are Western Development and Citimark. The City of Richmond is a Supporting Partner and the Richmond News is the Media Sponsor.
This event will adhere to all health and safety guidelines as set out by local and provincial health authorities where required.
