Romance and fiction author Sonya Lalli is Richmond’s 2021 Writer-in-Residence

This year’s Writer-in-Residence program officially kicks off with a special reading and Q&A from this year’s author, Sonya Lalli on Saturday, September 25 at the Richmond Public Library Brighouse Branch.

This free program is a part of Culture Days and will be offered in-person and be livestreamed for online viewing from 3 to 4 p.m. To register for the event visit www.yourlibrary.ca. As seating is limited, advance registration is required to attend in person.

Sonya Lalli will also be providing advice to emerging writers through a variety of free virtual public workshops, events and conversations from October through November 2021.

Sonya Lalli is a romance and fiction author of Punjabi and Bengali heritage. Her books have been featured in Entertainment Weekly, NPR, Washington Post, Glamour, Globe and Mail, CBC, Toronto Star and more. Her debut novel, The Matchmaker’s List, was a Target Diverse Book Club Pick and a Cityline Book Club Pick. Her fourth novel, A Holly Jolly Diwali, will be published this October. Ms. Lalli’s debut psychological thriller, Are you Sara?, will be published in summer 2022.

Lalli studied law in her hometown of Saskatoon and at Columbia University in New York, and has worked in the law profession as a legal journalist and in book publishing. She recently moved from Toronto to Metro Vancouver with her husband.

Richmond’s Writer-in-Residence program is produced in partnership between the City of Richmond’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Services, Minoru Centre for Active Living Seniors Services and Richmond Public Library.
