Picnic Sites

Planning a picnic for a special celebration or a group get-together? Richmond offers a wide range of parks and open spaces ideal to explore. The spectacular views, easy access on flat terrain, heritage landscapes and unique island ecology will make picnicking truly enjoyable.

Picnic and rest areas can be found in places such as London's Landing, the Sports Fishing Pier and the No. 7 Road Pier. Note: Most picnic sites in Richmond do not require rentals. Visitors are welcome to show up on a first come, first served basis.

Garry Point Park

12011 7th Avenue

This 39-acre waterfront park is located at the mouth of the Fraser River and close to Steveston Village with spectacular views and beaches. Points of interest include: the Japanese Garden, Fisherman's Memorial sculpture and Scotch Pond Historic Moorage site.

King George/Cambie Community Park

4100 No. 5 Road

This park features a beautiful stand of tall heritage trees, basketball courts, playgrounds, tennis courts, a waterpark and more. Near the waterplay area is the "Gathering Place," a picnic space for large groups and events. The picnic venue is perfect for a company picnic, birthday party or summer barbeque.

McDonald Beach

3500 McDonald Road

McDonald Beach Boat Launch is located on the north bank of Sea Island at the end of McDonald Road. There are many great views along the Fraser River of working boats and log-boom movement and long stretches of beach with airplane viewing.

Available: parking, picnic tables, public washrooms, two boat ramps, off-leash dog area and concession stand.

Richmond Nature Park

11851 Westminster Highway

The park consists of 100+ acres of old bog forest and is constantly transforming with the seasons. The Nature House is an interpretive centre that features interactive displays and games about the park, the bog and other aspects of nature. South Arm Park

8680 Williams Road (Intersection of Williams Road and Garden City Road)

This large community park is 56.75 acres with lots of athletic amenities including a large community centre facility, 10 sports fields, 9 ball diamonds, 4 basketball courts, 8 tennis courts and a large playground.

Available: parking, picnic tables , public washrooms, heated outdoor pool with waterslides and concession stand.

Steveston Park

4011 Moncton Street

This large, popular community park has many amenities including a large accessible playground that was extensively redesigned to include ramps and elevated platforms and play equipment for both toddlers and older children. The other buildings on the site include Steveston Community Centre, Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, Martial Arts Centre, Steveston Public Library and an outdoor swimming pool.

London Heritage Farm

This popular attraction includes a historical 1906 farmhouse and park overlooking the south arm of the Fraser River. The site includes beautiful heritage perennial flowers, kitchen and herb gardens, the restored Spragg family barn, an outside exhibit of antique farm equipment, chickens, honey and Blue Orchard bees and community gardens.

Woodwards Landing Campsite

This campsite is an ideal site for company or corporate picnics often used used by Boy Scouts and Girl Guides for camping and is adjacent to the Horseshoe Slough Trail and across Dyke Road from the Fraser offering great views of the Fraser River.
