Biography:
Edgar Joseph Shields enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada on January 20, 1940 at Vancouver. He gave his address as RR #1, King Road, Lulu Island and his next of kin as his mother, Mrs. Rosemary Brown. His occupation was listed as truck driver and fueller. 

After enlistment, Edgar was posted to Toronto for training and then embarked from Halifax to May 13, 1940, landing at Liverpool. He spent almost four years in England, with several hospital stays and many episodes of punishment for absences without leave. Edgar embarked for Italy on March 12, 1945 and was killed in action April 11, 1945. He was married to Elsie Joyce Dawson on November 5, 1942 at Caterham, Surrey. His is listed on the honour roll at South Arm United Church, Richmond.
