Over 1,000 pounds of fresh garlic will once again be showcased, celebrated and sold at the annual Richmond Garlic Fest on Sunday, August 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This special community event, now in its 13th year, takes place at Richmond’s Sharing Farm in award-winning Terra Nova Rural Park.

“The Richmond Garlic Festival is a celebration of all things garlic, showcasing the diversity, flavour and health benefits of this aromatic culinary treasure,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “The event promises to be an unforgettable day filled with culinary delights, live music, educational workshops and family-friendly activities.”

Attendees are invited to browse an array of garlic varieties and sample mouth watering garlic dishes, including garlic ice cream. Back again this year, expert bird handlers will educate and entertain with flying demonstrations of native birds of prey and a number of flying maneuvers, acrobatics, and speed and dexterity drills.

“We are delighted to host the Richmond Garlic Fest and welcome the community to celebrate this versatile and remarkable vegetable," said Leslie Williams, Executive Director of the Sharing Farm. “The festival not only offers a delightful experience for all food enthusiasts but also raises vital funds to support our mission of providing fresh, healthy produce to our community.”

Admission to the festival is by donation and is suitable for all ages. A free shuttle bus will be available from the City’s Operations Yard (5599 Lynas Lane) to the event site as parking around the festival is limited. Attendees are also encouraged to walk, take transit or cycle with a free bike valet service available. The Sharing Farm is located at 2771 Westminster Highway.
