The scent of garlic is set to waft through the air as a backdrop to the 14th annual Richmond Garlic Fest on Saturday, August 17 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. This longstanding event that celebrates sustainable agriculture and local garlic is organized by the Sharing Farm in collaboration with the City of Richmond, uniting garlic enthusiasts, foodies and families for a day of culinary delights and community celebration.
The festival grounds, located at the Sharing Farm within Terra Nova Rural Park, will feature a lineup of activities for all ages, ensuring a day filled with excitement and discovery. Highlights include live birds-of-prey flying demonstrations, a celebrated children's area with face painting, an obstacle course and educational activities, a diverse farmer's market showcasing local produce and gourmet food trucks offering garlic specials. Engage further with educational talks and workshops, including garlic cultivation, sustainable agriculture and natural dying techniques by Musqueam artist Rita Point Kompst.
A free shuttle bus will be available from the City’s Operations Yard (5599 Lynas Lane) to the event site as parking around the festival is limited. Attendees are also encouraged to take transit, walk, cycle or e-scooter, with a free bike and e-scooter valet service available. The Sharing Farm is located at 2771 Westminster Highway.
Admission to the Richmond Garlic Fest is by donation, with all proceeds supporting the charitable work of the Sharing Farm.
