Spooktacular Halloween activities in Richmond

Throughout this spookiest of months, spend time with ghouls, goblins, friends and family at events at any of the 20+ Halloween-inspired events and activities on now through Thursday, October 31 including the fang-tastic Halloween Fireworks Festival in Minoru Park on Halloween night. All the details about this year’s 20+ events can be found at richmond.ca/halloween.

Other family-friendly and spooky activities include:

  • Halloween-themed skates in costume at Minoru Arenas
  • Boogie-ing at a Monster Mash Dance Party at Cambie and South Arm Community Centres
  • Pumpkin carving and painting at Steveston Community Centre
  • Making magical potions and slime at South Arm, Thompson and West Richmond Community Centres 
  • Dropping in to the Halloween Hoot at the Richmond Nature Park from October 19 to 27

On Halloween night, bring friends and family to the Halloween Fireworks Festival at Minoru Park (7191 Granville Avenue) from 6:30 to 8:45pm to:

  • Watch stage performers including a magician, jugglers and the “ShowStoppers” ensemble, and take in the roaming performers including actors in costume, face painters and stilt walkers
  • See a live pumpkin carver, check out Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s giant pumpkin display and visit the inflatable corn maze
  • Participate in carnival style games and activities to win candy and chocolate bars
  • Enjoy a variety of on-site food trucks offering Greek food, grilled cheese sandwiches, tornado potatoes, mini donuts and bubble tea for sale
  • View the fireworks finale that starts at 8:30pm

Fireworks and firecrackers are illegal to possess, buy, sell or detonate in Richmond. City Bylaws staff as well as RCMP units will be out and about this month, and a zero tolerance approach will be taken to ensure the safety of the community.

Extended Lighting Schedule
To ensure the safety of everyone during the week of Halloween and Diwali, the lights at our sports fields will be extended. Lighting will be available from sunset until 1:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, Saturday, October 26 and Thursday, October 31.

Here’s a list of the participating fields:

  • Hugh Boyd Park - football and soccer fields
  • King George Park - artificial soccer turf
  • Minoru Park - baseball diamond, football/soccer field, Minoru 2 & 3, security and track
  • Richmond High - soccer field
