Do you know a person or an organization deserving to be honoured for their dedication to historic places, public history or a heritage interpretation project in Richmond? If so, the Richmond Heritage Commission is encouraging you to submit a nomination for a Richmond Heritage Award before the Sunday, May 26, 2024 deadline.

Historic buildings, cultural and natural heritage landscapes, artifacts, and oral and written histories are all rich resources that contribute to Richmond’s shared community identity today. Many people play a personal role in preserving and sharing the stories of Richmond’s past and its heritage places. The annual Richmond Heritage Awards provide a way to recognize people and organizations for their dedication. Nominations for the awards are now being accepted until Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Some of the ways an individual or organization may earn recognition is for their role in:

• preservation, restoration, rehabilitation or adaptive reuse of a historic place such as a building or structure, or conservation of a cultural heritage landscape
• promotion or awareness of local heritage through education, outreach or advocacy
• contributions to local knowledge of heritage in public history or interpretation projects

Anyone can submit a nomination. Simply complete a one-page nomination form describing the nominee and their contribution.

The nomination form is available online at richmond.ca/HeritageAwards. A printed copy is available by emailing Policy Planning Department at communityplanning@richmond.ca. Submissions can be sent to the same email address or mailed to Richmond Heritage Commission c/o Policy Planning Department, Richmond City Hall, 6911 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC, V6Y 2C1.
