Do you have a climate-friendly home and want to show others what a difference it can make? If so, the City of Richmond wants your home. Well, just for a day.

The City is participating in the Climate-Friendly Homes Tour, a province-wide initiative that provides the public an opportunity to visit homes with sustainable technologies, such as heat pumps, high-performance building envelopes, passive house design or other low carbon features. The homeowners would showcase their innovative energy solutions as part of the tour, taking place on Saturday, April 26.

The goal of the tour is to start friendly, casual and informative conversations based on the homeowner's first-hand knowledge and experience with various climate-friendly features. Contractors, Energy Advisors and other experts will be onsite at some locations to answer questions and share their expertise. Visitors may also seek information on costs, comfort and ongoing expenses.

Homeowners are not expected to open their entire home to the public. Visitors will focus on viewing key features.

By participating in the tour, homeowners will have the opportunity to inspire and motivate others to take the first step toward a climate-friendly lifestyle that would improve their comfort and potentially reduce operating costs.

The deadline to register your home as part of Richmond’s tour is Monday, March 31.

The tour is funded by BC Hydro and administered by the Community Energy Association. Final tour details will be posted on the Climate-Friendly Homes Tour website.
