Richmond Farm Fest returns to celebrate Richmond’s agricultural heritage

The Richmond Farm Fest returns Sunday, September 13 from 11:00am to 4:00pm, bringing food, farming and community together at the Garden City Lands located at 5040 Garden City Road. This free, family-friendly event offers a fun-filled afternoon celebrating Richmond’s agricultural heritage and future food growing opportunities.

Whether you are a foodie, gardener or simply looking for a fun day out with family and friends, Richmond Farm Fest has something for everyone. Come explore, learn and celebrate Richmond’s agricultural roots and growing food industry.

Richmond’s unique blend of urban and rural environments, active farming and vibrant culinary community has helped establish the city as a destination for local food and agriculture. Richmond Farm Fest celebrates that connection by bringing the community together to explore Richmond’s agricultural past, present and future.

Festival highlights include:

  • Farmers Market featuring local products and flavours
  • Food and beverages featuring Richmond’s culinary community
  • Little Farmers Kids’ Zone with fun activities for young visitors
  • Agriculture and garden displays
  • Richmond’s agricultural story, highlighting the community’s farming heritage
  • Community Stage featuring live music
  • Culinary Demonstration Stage with cooking demonstrations from Black and Blue Steakhouse
  • Executive Chef Jonathan Lee
  • Farm Wagon Tours offering a closer look at Richmond’s agricultural landscape

Attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle or take transit to the event. A free bike and e-scooter valet service will be available on-site. Free parking will be available at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (8771 Lansdowne Rd) and Richmond City Hall (6911 No. 3 Road). There will be continuous shuttle bus service from these locations during the festival from 10:45am to 4:15pm.

About the Garden City Lands

Set in the heart of Richmond, the 55.2 hectare (136.5-acre) Garden City Lands  is a unique urban park that brings together natural areas, public recreation and active farming. Located within the Agricultural Land Reserve, at 5040 Garden City Road, the site is also home to Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s farming and agricultural programs. 

Home to over 180 active farmers, a unique blend of urban and rural environments, active farming and vibrant restaurants, Richmond’s reputation as a hub for urban agriculture and unique culinary experiences is well established and growing. The Richmond Farm Fest is a chance to celebrate Richmond’s past, showcase our present, and inspire the future of food and farming in our city.
