The City of Richmond celebrated the opening of the renewed McLean Neighbourhood Park Playground on Monday, September 28, 2026, introducing new and accessible play opportunities for children and families to explore, build friendships and have fun.
Located within the 12-acre McLean Neighbourhood Park (22500 McLean Avenue), the renewed playground features two play areas tailored for different age ranges. The playground for children aged two to five includes new accessible play components, including a double car and a non-verbal communication board. These features were made possible through a $12,000 grant from the Enabling Accessibility Fund, provided by the Government of Canada.
The playground also includes a larger play area designed for children aged five to 12 with a variety of new play opportunities that encourage physical activity, imaginative play, sensory exploration and social interaction. New features include monkey bars, a merry-go-round, an embarkment slide and sensory and percussion play components.
In addition to the accessibility grant, the Hamilton Community Association contributed $100,000 toward the playground renewal helping support the addition of new and engaging play equipment for children and families.
The renewed playground reflects the City’s commitment to providing safe, accessible and engaging spaces for residents of all ages to connect, participate and play in their neighbourhood.
