Biography:
William Lapka was born March 29, 1930 in the District of Wormley, Saskatchewan. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Sophie Lapka of 534 Blundell Road and he had three sisters and three brothers, including Michael Lapka, the eldest son.
Private William Lapka was a member of the 2nd Battalion P.P.C.L.I. He was seriously wounded in action on March 7, 1951 and he died as a result of his wounds on March 15, 1951. He was the first local casualty in the Korean War.
