Arthur Bennet Lesley is believed to be the son of Bennett King (engineer) and Nora Irene Lesley of 605 No. 6 Road, Eburne. He was a member of the South Arm United Church, Richmond. His entry in They Shall Not Grow Old states that he was from Eburne.
On August 15, 1941 the crew of Wellington aircraft # W 5496, City of Vancouver Squadron, was on a bombing mission when the plane crashed in the sea off Flamborough Head, England. Sergeant Observer Arthur Bennet Lesley has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial, Egham, Surrey, England.
A letter was written from the Municipality of Richmond, September 1949, to the Canadian Legion No. 5 Branch, Lulu Island, requesting a list of names of the fallen to be added to the Cenotaph. Included in this letter was a paragraph regarding Arthur Lesley and whether he should be included in the list.
