Biography:
Private Archie Muir was born February 23, 1892 in Enderby, BC. Archie enlisted in Vancouver, BC on January 11, 1916; he joined the 158th Battalion. On his attestation papers, he listed his occupation as fisherman and his religion as Church of England. He was 5 foot, 4 inches, had brown hair, blue eyes and a fresh complexion. He had two tattoos: flags and flowers on his front right forearm; and eagle and snake on his left forearm. His next of kin is listed as his wife Mrs. May Muir and they had one child (girl). Sadly, Archie and May's son, Leonard Edward Muir died in 1915 at 2 years of age when he drowned in a ditch near the Colonial Cannery on Lulu Island (he had been born March 3, 1913 in Steveston, and died March 22, 1915).
Archie died in action in France on August 9, 1918.
