Many people play a personal role in the stories of Richmond’s past, its heritage and cultural identity. Either they have created a part of history themselves, or have contributed to preserving it. The annual Richmond Heritage Awards provide a way to recognize people and organizations for their dedication. Nominations for the awards are now being accepted until Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Some of the ways an individual or organization may be recognized is for their role in the:
- preservation, restoration, rehabilitation or adaptive reuse of a historic place such as a building or structure, or conservation of a cultural heritage landscape
- promotion or awareness of local heritage through education, outreach or advocacy
- contributions to local knowledge of heritage in public history or interpretation projects.
Anyone can submit a nomination to the Richmond Heritage Commission. Simply complete a one-page nomination form describing the nominee and their contribution.
The nomination form is available on at www.richmond.ca as a fillable PDF. A printed copy is available by emailing Minhee Park, Planner, Policy Planning at communityplanning@richmond.ca.
